Food.

One of the most overwhelming parts of transitioning to a healthier lifestyle is adapting to a new way of eating. When you begin to change your food, a whole load of unexpected emotions come with that change. The point of this blog is to give you ideas that are familiar, realistic, nutritional and still comforting. Like food should be.

Welcome!

I plan to share foods my family and I love that are heart healthy, mostly made with plant protein, sometimes made with animal protein, and all made with ingredients available in the rural area where I live. I know it’s not always easy to be health conscious and live in a rural area. We can’t always just run to the store and get organic, non-gmo, low sodium, etc. ingredients like people in the big city can! :) I get it.

I have found over time that I just feel better when most of my protein comes from plants. Everyone is different, this just happens to be what makes my human body feel best.

I also understand that many people aren’t used to eating meals without meat. I too used to think I could NOT get full on a meal without meat, but once I needed to cut down on meat to help my cholesterol, I started learning about the mannnnny benefits of doing this. And how easy (and less expensive!) it is to cook without it. And most importantly, how yummy it is! I feel more excited about cooking at this point in my life than I ever have and I think it’s because I have a whole new world of ingredients to use that I may not have considered before.

If this sounds interesting, check out some of the food I’ve been making. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
